Okay, then he shouldn't be happy with his own party for sending negative adds then.

The only thing that was sent out by the DNC was the few mailings that just said he doesn't live here, which he doesn't, never has and has said that he will not move here.

Thumbs up Re: Exercise your freedom.

I do think its sad that people have so much hate for obama that they voted out Boucher, He HAS done for this area, id say a lot of people were afraid of cap and trade and the fact that OBAMA is totally against the coal industry........... thing is, Boucher wasnt against coal and he had plans to help us out even after cap and trade.

R13, Boucher really didnt help write up the cap and trade plan? I got a letter from him explaining how and why he did and how that he was backed by the coal industry to do it. Im not being a smartass im really confused as to why i would get a paper from his desk saying that if he wasnt that deeply involved in it? Explained why the coal companies were even involved in the process. Whats the deal with that then? I would really like to know if you could PM me or whatever it would be appreciated, seems if you put anything else in this thread it will explode.

Its sad to see Boucher go, he had a great run and kept our fragile economy in running shape, I guess with the election of Obama we can just expect bad things for this area, people are so far against him they wont keep someone beneficial in just because he backs Obama's agenda. We can just hope and pray that this new guy will put forth a little effort and get some work done in our area. I hope he is at least smart enough to fight to keep up funding for our prisons...... (the ones boucher fought like hell to get in here BTW) Im sure everyone knows on this board that im more on the conservative side than the liberal (by a **** ton) But even I could see the good that boucher did here. Im not saying it wasnt going to get worse, it could have especially for coal and the new power plant but hey why get rid of a good thing? Wait for the man to screw up before we call for his head.
Cant we all just get along?

Did you see that R13? You know absolutely nothing factual about Griffith it is all just your speculation that you think will happen because his politics are different than yours. I am sure that Griffith will do everything in his power to help our area and bring things in that Boucher did. You are making it seem like that Griffith will be getting paid off for making this area rot away. It is not as if Boucher had some magical powers that made people come here. Griffith will take a lot of what Boucher did right and expand on that. Just chill out and at least give the man a chance and not smash your sour grapes all over the place.

Griffith isnt inexperienced or anything, even on Boucher's websites they praise him for his hard work and smarts, give the man a chance. he was house majority leader for what 9-10 years? I think he will do good for us, he is from Salem which when we redistrict im sure will be put here, if he brings anything close to this area it will help out. Give it time R13, if you want to blame something for Boucher losing blame Obamacare, people are scared to death of it.

No he didn't. The bill was written by Henry Waxman and Ed Markey, they authored the bill. The bill was presented and congress can add amendments to it, that's what Boucher did to it - which that's what Griffith was talking about when he said he "co-wrote it". It's a big bill, capping emissions was only a small part of it btw. Anyway, under the bill, companies would have to cap their emissions or continue but they must by permits to do so - that or get huge fines - and that money would go towards clean-coal technology. What Boucher's amendment did was make 90% of those permits free for electric utility companies - the companies like Dominion and Duke and other huge companies come in is that they endorsed the bill because of Bouchers amendment. The literature that was sent out explains it better than that, but that's what happened in a nutshell.

I'd bet I know a lot more about Griffith that you do. This isn't speculation, it's common sense. Griffith has no pull in Congress, definitely not anywhere near to what Boucher had, that's going to equal us getting a fraction if we're lucky to what Boucher brought in. The other thing we know is that he isn't from here, has never lived here and isn't moving here - that means that what little interest he has in the 9th is going to be near Roanoke. Go ahead and ask Morgie to name three "towns" in Lee Country, guarantee he couldn't name any. He's voted for using money that was ours, for the 6th and NOVA, why in the hell would you think or I think that he would do anything in our power for us?(what little power he would have).

By some small chance that he is some ****ing ambassador of goodwill to SWVA, he doesn't have the pull in congress to do it, that's even considering he gives two ****s about this area. So you can soak up all you want with the "he'll expand on it", which is really laughable, but reality is that he doesn't have the power to do it even if he wanted.

You do realize that Boucher was one of the dems that voted against it, right? Of course I didn't agree with that at all, but he did.

Your pathetic R13, you lose and cry like a baby. I picture you in the corner with your hat on sideways and your pants hanging off your ass, thumb stuck in your mouth. Of course you you should be crying, maybe the republicans can take away some of the freebies you and your kind have been enjoying from the working class. Go get a ****ing job and shut the hell up, oh I forgot, there aren't any jobs because your buddies have screwed up the whole **** country.

I guess the one I got from the DNC was a complete abboration then which mentioned nothing about where Griffith lives but how he will make jobs leave this area.

    Re: Exercise your freedom.

While I'm not quite as colorful as MapleGap I do believe that you need to just suck it up and quit saying all this stuff like it will be the gospel. You do not have a clue what Griffith will do so do not try and preach like you do. Like I said you have your speculation because you are sour that Boucher lost. I will agree with you that Boucher did do a lot for the area, but there is no way you can say on one day after the election that Griffith will not do anything for SWVA. Of course when he was in the House of Delegates he didn't go out of his way to bring things to Lee/Wise/Scott etc. That wasn't the district he represented. Go ask the constituents of the district he represented what he did for them and I am sure they will speak highly of him or they wouldn't have continued to elect him. It is not like he is some political no name that has no experience what so ever, in fact he has more political experience than our current president did when he was elected. I understand that he has different opinions and beliefs than you do and what he does you will probably not like because he will not support the liberal agenda. But it is common sense that he will do everything he can for the area unless he wants to get voted out in two years.
